Food pantries rely on dedicated and compassionate volunteers to carry out their daily operations. These volunteers play a crucial role in various aspects of the pantry’s functioning, including:
Rescue Food Organizer
Assist in organizing and stocking shelves with rescue food delivered on Tuesday mornings.
Shopping Assistant, Pantry
Volunteers interact with pantry visitors, providing them with a warm and welcoming environment. They will assist clients in selecting food items that meet their dietary needs and family size. Assists with stocking inventory as time permits.
Shopping Assistant, Clothing
Volunteers interact with pantry visitors, providing them with a warm and welcoming environment. They will assist clients in selecting clothing items that meet the needs of their children. Assists with stocking inventory as time permits.
Rescue Food Organizer
Assist in organizing and stocking shelves with rescue food delivered on Tuesday mornings.
Food Carry-out
Food Carry-outs deliver groceries to the client’s car. Other tasks may include weighing and logging donations and assisting in bagging groceries.
Food Courier
Volunteers help collect donated food items from the community and local businesses so the pantry shelves are stocked for clients.
Receptionist
The Receptionist is responsible for greeting and updating our database records. Training is required for this position.
Fundraising and Events
Volunteers contribute to organizing fundraising events and activities to support the pantry’s operations and raise awareness of food insecurity issues in the community.
Committee Members
As a committee member, you develop and implement plans for the improvement and future of the pantry. We have openings for the following committees: Visioning, Operations, Communications, Fund Raising and Events, Grants, Finance.
Board of Directors
As a member of the board of directors, you are responsible for helping shape the pantry’s strategy and the community’s collective impact. By serving on the board, and participating in sub-committees, you will support the mission and vision of the Grimes Storehouse to provide food to those in need with dignity and respect.
